Wax Lyrical began in 1980, when the Williams family — then hoteliers and restaurateurs — noticed how a well-chosen scent could transform a room and a guest's mood. That instinct for atmosphere became a small candle-making venture, and in 1990 the growing business moved to its current home in Lindal-in-Furness, Cumbria, on a site officially opened by Princess Diana.
Since then, the brand has grown into the UK's largest home fragrance company, with products sold across the UK and exported to countries around the world — while never losing sight of where it started.

Our fragrances, candles and reed diffusers are still designed, tested and produced at our Lake District home, where an in-house lab and a team of trained fragrance experts — our 'noses' — meticulously craft every scent. From wild florals to warm woods, each collection is built around ingredients and fragrance oils sourced from leading European fragrance houses, before being expertly blended and quality-checked.
